Confluences took part in Canada’s 2025 trade mission to Cambodia and welcomed Québec officials in Phnom Penh, reinforcing its business engagement with North America and preparing for expanded collaboration ahead of the 2026 Francophonie Summit.
In May 2025, Cambodia hosted a major Canadian trade mission as part of the country’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. Led by Minister of Export Promotion Mary Ng, the delegation brought close to 100 representatives from companies and institutions to Phnom Penh. Confluences participated in several official networking events, reaffirming our role as a strategic facilitator for international companies in Cambodia.
Among the delegation, we were pleased to welcome representatives from the Province of Québec, including Catherine Tadros, Québec Delegate General in Singapore, and Mélissa Prophète, Director of Asia-Pacific Export Services at Investissement Québec. Their visit confirmed Québec’s growing interest in building stronger commercial bridges with Cambodia and the region.
Our collaboration with Québec began in 2023 when our CEO joined the Rencontre des Entrepreneurs Francophones in Québec City. Since then, we’ve developed a productive dialogue with Investissement Québec, including joint participation in the IAAPA Expo in Bangkok in 2024. These repeated engagements reflect our mutual focus on concrete opportunities and business results.
A commercial mission with a Québec-based company was signed by Confluences during this visit. Details will be announced in the coming weeks — a promising step that demonstrates how bilateral efforts are now producing tangible outcomes.
With Cambodia confirmed as the host of the Francophonie Summit in November 2026, exchanges between Canadian and Cambodian businesses are expected to intensify. The event presents a rare opportunity to bring new delegations from Québec and other Francophone provinces, and to build commercial momentum in areas aligned with Cambodia’s development agenda.
Several sectors stand out for their high potential: renewable energy solutions, agrifood innovation, sustainable resource management, and environmental technologies. The Cambodian diaspora in Canada and Québec — often trilingual in Khmer, English, and French — can also play a key role as a cultural and entrepreneurial bridge between both markets.
“Canada and Québec already share strong affinities with Cambodia — culturally, linguistically, and economically,” said Dara VAN, Market Access Manager at Confluences. “The 2026 Summit is an excellent opportunity to attract new delegations and transform mutual interest into business collaboration.”
Confluences recently renewed its membership with CanCham Cambodia. We’re equally proud to see Denis Barre, our HR partner at Convergences, actively contributing as Treasurer of the chamber. His involvement reflects our company culture: encouraging our team and partners to take part in initiatives that connect Cambodia with the international business community.
As momentum builds, Confluences will continue to support Canadian and Québec enterprises looking to explore, enter, and expand in Cambodia — with practical guidance and hands-on local execution.
