This past month, Confluences CEO Mr. Soreasmey Ke Bin actively participated in three events in France and one in Morocco, with a focus on exploring potential ventures or Cambodia’s growing market.

Viva Technology 2024

From May 22-25, he attended Viva Technology, the 8th edition of Europe's biggest startup and tech event, held at Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris. As a member of the Cambodian delegation, he will be accompanying H.E. KAN Channmeta (Secretary of State for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation).  

VivaTech is a global community that unites thousands of visionary startups, investors, organizations, corporations, researchers, media, and talents. A global event in the realm of technology and startups, where business meets innovation. Mr. Soreasmey used this opportunity to connect with the Cambodian Women in Tech delegation.  

Our CEO also attended the Vivatech 2024 Frenchfounders' private dinner on the 22nd of May, where members gathered alongside guest speakers to discuss a range of topics for entrepreneurs, corporates, and investors from the community. Mr. Soreasmey also accompanied H.E Kan Channmeta (Secretary of State for the MISTI) to the dinner. During the debrief session, scale-uppers, C-level scale-ups, founding partners, and corporate executives had the chance to share insights and experiences.

Fondation France Asie - Dîner de Gala 2024

On 23 May, Mr. Soreasmey also attended the Fondation France Asie (FFA) Dîner de Gala, participating under the Tandem Partners Group in the presence of Puy Du Fou Asia, Chairman Geoffroy Ladet, and Anne Cy Zhao, Co-Chair & Executive Director.

The Fondation France Asie - Dîner de Gala was held at Palais d'Iéna and attended by more than 300 distinguished professionals, including ministers, diplomats, business leaders, members, and friends of the Foundation.  

The Fondation is the leading platform between France and Asia, dedicated to fostering cultural exchange, with the aim to fortify ties between France and Asian nations. They play a crucial role in promoting cultural dialogue and cooperation between the two regions, aligning with Confluences' mission of fostering international connections.

La REF 2024

Finally, on 30 May, our CEO attended the 4th edition of La REF (Rencontre des Entrepreneurs Francophones), at Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco. Hosted by the Alliance des Patronats Francophones (APF) and the Confédération Générale des Enterprise du Maroc (CGEM), the event provides a platform for hundreds of business leaders and officials from Francophone countries to engage in conversations and exchange ideas.

L’Alliance des Patronats Francophones is the leading network for French-speaking businesses. With its 35 representative professional organizations spanning over 40 countries, it acts as the official representative of the formal private sector in Francophone countries. It is worth noting that SMEs and VSEs organizations make up 90% of its affiliated companies.

Prior to the main event, Mr. Soreasmey participated in the APF General Assembly. As a member of the Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Deputy Prime Minister, Sok Chenda Sophea, of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, he represented the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. The primary aim of the Cambodian delegation was to formally propose Cambodia's candidacy to host the 6th edition of La REF in 2026.

During the main event, Mr. Soreasmey was invited to moderate a round table discussion on the topic of "The Francophonie Economy: Solutions for Challenges Posed by Digital Evolution and Artificial Intelligence." La REF 2024 covered a range of topics, such as strengthening SME competitiveness, promoting trade and free movement of goods and services, logistical and connectivity challenges, perpetual business growth, and challenges of AI.

The Cambodian delegation's participation in the general assembly carries significant weight because it reinforces Cambodia's presence amongst other actors within the French-speaking countries. This marks a crucial moment as it establishes Cambodia as a key point of entry for businesses seeking to enter the markets of the Greater Mekong and the ASEAN region.

Furthermore, Confluences' participation in this assembly enabled us to successfully secure Cambodia's candidacy to host La REF – Rencontres des Entrepreneurs Francophones in 2026, scheduled the same year as the Sommet de la Francophonie.
