Cable car at Sentosa City, Singapore

5 reasons why cable car mobility solutions have a promising future in Cambodia:

1/ A tourist destination

Cambodia is home to many popular tourist destinations, such as Angkor Wat, the Tonle Sap lake and many other coastal or island destinations, which would benefit from cable car transportation to improve accessibility and provide visitors with a unique vantage point. It is also a country of pilgrimage travelling.

2/ Urban development

As Cambodia's cities continue to grow and urbanise, cable car systems can be implemented as an efficient and sustainable means of public transportation to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility. In addition, cable car systems are generally more cost-effective to build and maintain compared to traditional rail or road infrastructure.

3/ Scenic routes

The country's scenic landscapes and mountainous regions make it a prime candidate for cable car systems to provide scenic views and access to remote areas.

4/ Climate:

Cambodia's tropical climate may be more conducive to cable car systems, as they are less affected by harsh weather conditions compared to other forms of transportation.

5/ Popularity

Cable car systems have been successfully conquering Asia, and notably in Cambodia’s neighbouring countries.

In Vietnam, Danang, Sapa and Phu Quoc are amongst the most popular destinations equipped with cable cars.

In Singapore a cable car is connecting Sentosa Island to the mainland and in Malaysia on Langkawi Island a cable car brings tourist up to the mountain in order to provide stunning views to the riders.
