Following the success of a first conservation workshop with Memorist Heritage and the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum (SOSORO Museum), Confluences coordinated a five-day training on “Metallic Coins and Objects Conservation” for the museum from March 2 to 6, 2026. For this second mission, we supported the identification and mobilization of relevant international expertise, leading to the involvement of the French conservation firm CH Conservation.
In the field of heritage conservation, technical precision is essential. For this mission, we introduced Clara HUYNH, founder and metal conservator of CH Conservation, a graduate of France’s prestigious Institut national du patrimoine (National Institute of Cultural Heritage). This was her first professional mission in Cambodia, following more than ten years of experience delivering similar training in France, Senegal, and Uzbekistan.
The five-day training combined both theoretical input and hands-on practice, focusing on the preservation of the museum’s metal heritage objects. These included silver and copper alloy coins, as well as ferrous elements from historical gates and archaeological artefacts. Participants were trained in preventive conservation, condition reporting, cleaning processes, corrosion stabilization, and curative treatments such as protective coatings and retouching techniques.
"It has been a pleasure to share some knowledge with the SOSORO museum team during this training. They were very motivated and invested. The museum collections are in good hands." — Clara HUYNH, metal conservator of CH Conservation.

This workshop builds directly on the broader objective of the previous conservation training conducted with Memorist Heritage, whom we represent in Cambodia, and the SOSORO Museum. Rather than isolated interventions, these initiatives are designed as part of a structured collaboration aimed at progressively strengthening local expertise, reinforcing a long-term approach to capacity building in Cambodia’s cultural sector.
By facilitating connections between international specialists and Cambodian institutions, Confluences ensures that technical knowledge is not only transferred but also anchored locally.
“This workshop illustrates how our partnership with CH Conservation allows us to bring relevant expertise to Cambodia. We aim to continue developing similar training initiatives for Cambodian cultural and museum institutions such as SOSORO.” — Anovita ING, Market Access Specialist, Confluences.
Through collaborations with leading international experts like Memorist Heritage and CH Conservation, Confluences continues to support the development of a new generation of Cambodian conservation professionals. Strengthening local capabilities remains essential to ensure long-term preservation and transmission of the Kingdom’s cultural assets.
