Pascal MEDEVILLE, the Mind Behind Wonders of Cambodia

February 2, 2026

Cambodia’s story is widely told online, but hard to find a complete picture. To bridge business, and many reliable insights into one place, Confluences' resident, Pascal MEDEVILLE, General Manager of translation agency, Simili Consulting, launched Wondersofcambodia.com, a reliable multilingual resource giving a deeper view of the country for local and global audiences.

From Learning Khmer by Accident to Calling Cambodia Home

Pascal MEDEVILLE during his visit to the SOSORO Museum's exhibition ‘Into the Light: The Retrieved Paintings of Phnom Penh’s Silver Pagoda’

Pascal's connection to Cambodia began with a funny twist of fate. While studying Chinese at university in France, he picked up Khmer as his next language to help a Cambodian child with homework, only to discover the child barely spoke Khmer. He was left with a new language that captured his interest and eventually led him to Cambodia.

“I first visited Cambodia in the early 1990s and returned few times in 2008 and 2009 while I was living in China. With each visit, my enthusiasm grew.  I like the people, food, and weather. There were many French people living in Cambodia and many I talked to said they were very happy to be here. So that's a very good sign. In 2010, my family and I moved here permanently. After 16 years, I think I'm going to stay. I'm not going anywhere else.”- Pascal MEDEVILLE.

The Start of Wonders of Cambodia

Pascal’s earlier story was amongst the reasons behind Wonders of Cambodia created to introduce the country to foreigners like Pascal himself, and now available in English, French, Khmer and Chinese. But it was not his first attempt.

“I wanted to provide the most complete information possible about Cambodia. I had already run a blog in French, but it was limited. So, I think what if I create something in English. Then I launched Wonders of Cambodia in May, not only to share information, but also to offer a reliable platform helping Cambodian businesses reach international audiences. Six months later, we reached 11,000 readers across Cambodia, the U.S., China, France, Vietnam, and Japan.” - Pascal MEDEVILLE.

Signature of Wonders of Cambodia: Facts, Neutrality, and the Everyday

Cambodian business insight is one of the core news categories for both locals and expat

What sets Wonders of Cambodia apart is its fact-based coverage of everyday life in Cambodia. Topics are from Pascal’s research, reading, and daily experiences, supported by everyday photos that help his readers connect with the country more than just long-form articles.

“Our website covers topics that others don’t focus on such as business, culture & art, history, picture of the day, nature, and everything across over 30 categories on one platform. We’re also not a breaking news site, even though we cover the current events sometimes, but we simply present the facts, explain the situation without propaganda as context resources and let readers form their own opinions” - Pascal MEDEVILLE.

He added, “We also use a mixed medium, including video and daily photography to visually represent the country, because what is interesting for people who don't know about Cambodia is to see the picture of Cambodia. We want to make the visitors read, see and feel the country like a lived experience.”

Simili, Wonders of Cambodia & Confluences

Chanleakena OUM, Sales Representative of Simili Consulting and wondersofcambodia.com joined Pascal MEDEVILLE in a talk with Confluences on the two businesses growth.

Eight years ago, Simili Consulting joined the Confluences residence community, a place where both the firm and the Wonders of Cambodia project have grown side by side. Being part of a community with Confluences’ businesses and fellow residents who are here by a shared passion for Cambodia, has been important to this growth.

“I like being part of Confluences: new people and offices. I don’t think we would have that if we were elsewhere. Also, there's a real passion here to present Cambodia to the world and being part of this community motivates what I’m doing. That’s why I plan to expand Wonders of Cambodia, with more coverage of businesses like hotels and restaurants and Vietnamese-language content, to further promote Cambodia, helping local businesses become better known internationally.” - Pascal MEDEVILLE.
