A proud achievement for our resident, Sarah KOLBENSTETTER, as Little Green Spark has earned the Sustainable Development Award at the ASEAN French Awards 2025 (Trophées des Français de l’ASEAN) on December 19, 2025, by Le Petit Journal to honor outstanding French expatriates in the ASEAN region.
With this award, Sarah becomes the second French entrepreneur in Cambodia to win this Sustainable Development category.

Born from a passion to reduce her own environmental impact and to spread this responsible approach to her new home Cambodia, Sarah started Little Green Spark that has grown into a zero-waste mission that has brought a great change in waste management in the country. To date, she has repurposed more than 22,000 kg of waste, trained over 3,000 individuals, and supported more than 25 organizations adopting sustainable practices.
“This award represents a profound validation for me. People said Cambodia wasn't ready for Zero Waste. This award proves that hard work, passion, and belief can turn skepticism into systemic change. It is also a recognition of the pioneering work made by our clients who are making circularity a reality in Cambodia.” - Sarah KOLBENSTETTER, Founder of Little Green Spark.
Little Green Spark's notable works include supporting the French Embassy in Cambodia in developing a comprehensive zero-waste program, installing a sorting system, and linking with local recyclers to divert waste from landfills. She also worked with Germany’s development agency, GIZ, on textile waste management projects in Cambodia’s garment factories, helping improve waste systems and reduce environmental impact in the textile sector, contributing to transform this massive industry toward more circular practices.

Since becoming a resident at Confluences in early 2023, Little Green Spark has provided Confluences team multiple zero-waste training sessions to support Confluences’ eco-friendly workplace culture and encouraged our staff and the wider resident community to adopt more sustainable habits as responsible citizens.
“Nowadays, many of us understand the importance of reducing, recycling, and reusing waste and plastic, but the actual actions taken are still limited. I am glad to have our resident Sarah lead Little Green Spark to make these actions happen by working with many organizations in Cambodia, including Confluences. Our staff could further learn about the impact of plastic waste and gain valuable practices on how we can start small by recycling and reducing plastic to help protect the environment.” - Lymanin KHIEV, Admin officer of Confluences.
