Vireak Buntham Express & Asendia Accelerate Cambodia’s E-Commerce Logistics

July 15, 2026
Commercial Collaboration signing between Vireak Buntham Express and Asendia Singapore, July 15, 2026

Our client, Asendia Singapore, has been appointed the official cross-border logistics provider for Vireak Buntham Express (VET), Cambodia’s largest transport and logistics operator. As part of Asendia, a global leader in e-commerce logistics, Asendia Singapore will support VET’s cross-border logistics ambitions. This milestone stems from a 2025 trade mission facilitated by Confluences.

This case study breaks down Confluences' role in progressively supporting their journey from market entry introduction into a key driver for Cambodian e-commerce.

Market Context and Challenges

Cambodia's domestic e-commerce sector reached an estimated USD 1.51 billion in 2024 and is projected to hit USD 1.78 billion by 2025 (source). However, local businesses face export challenges due to a lack of reliable, structured cross-border pipelines.

Recognizing Cambodia as a high-potential market for its Asia-Pacific expansion, Asendia, a joint venture between La Poste Groupe and Swiss Post, had their regional subsidiary Asendia Singapore collaborated with Confluences to explore the local market.

Through our Market Access Services, Asendia Singapore secured direct, in-person introductions to key local industry stakeholders.

The Roadmap from Introduction to Action

Phase 1: Strategic Matchmaking

  • Mission Prep: Designed a targeted exploration plan and identified key stakeholders for the management team of Asendia Singapore.
  • Private Sector Connections: Arranged meetings with top local logistics companies to explore complement capabilities and access demand for outbound e-commerce shipping, including Cambodia's logistics giant, VET.
Management of Asendia and Geopost (Part of the La Poste groupe), with H.E Neak Oknha Dr. SUO Vireak, Founder and CEO of VET and Confluences team, August 2025.
  • Institutional Engagement: Coordinated meetings with national postal operator Cambodia Post, the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). These discussions focused on the Kingdom's current postal infrastructure and landscape of trade, logistics, and the digital economy.
Meeting with Mr. Samvisoth THEN, Director General of Cambodia Post, August 2025.

Meeting with H.E. CHEA Ratha, Secretary of State of MoC, August 2025

Meeting with H.E. Dr. AUN Pornmonireachsak, Advisor to GS-DEBC and the General Department of Digital Economy, MEF, September 2025.

Phase 2: Soft Landing with Employer of Record

Building on these market insights, Asendia Singapore established a customer service team of local talents based at Confluences office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia via Confluences Operations’ Employer of Record service. Though this team supports Asendia’s broader APAC’s operations rather than immediate local commercial operations, this physical presence reflects Asendia's deep interest in the Cambodian market, positioning them to easily support future local collaborations. Phase 3: Alignment & Collaboration Formalization

Following the 2025 introduction, Confluences maintained our liaison role to support any local coordination needs for our client, Asendia Singapore, while they and VET concluded their alignment for the commercial collaboration that was officially signed on June 15, 2026

To maximize the visibility of this partnership and Asendia's presence within the Cambodian market, our support extended to communications, including press release, localization, and French media placement, ensuring the announcement reached both local and international audiences.

Collaboration Impact

Under this initiative, VET will manage nationwide first-mile collection and domestic logistics through its massive network, while Asendia Singapore manages selected outbound international delivery via its global infrastructure and customs expertise. This will allow VET to connect Cambodian businesses confidently to major retail markets like the US, UK, Europe, and beyond.

On a broader scale, this collaboration directly supports the Cambodian government's goals to strengthen national logistics infrastructure, trade facilitation, and the digital economy.

Confluences’ managements: Sotheavy MERMILLON, Dara N. VAN, and Soreasmey KE BIN, with Asendia Singapore's Head of Commercial, Andrew SIM, during the signing ceremony.

“It is a huge achievement to have two major industry firms combine their strengths to open doors for our local businesses in various sectors, bringing recognition to homegrown products and making them competitive overseas. We see this as a win, not just for us who facilitated this connection, but also for the bigger system, from small local merchants to the logistics sector and the broader digital economy.”- Dara N. VAN, Market Access Manager of Confluences.

Now both VET and Asendia Singapore are currently running lane implementations and testing, with international services set to roll out progressively over the coming months.
